Kis da doosh see kis da nahi see | who was responsible and who not

aey gulaan hun karun diyaan naeen | talk of this is useless now

wailay lungh gaey tauba waalay | time to repent has gone

raataan hokay bharun diyaan naeen | wailing at nights is useless

jo hoyaa aey hona ee see | what happened, was predestined

taay honi rokeyaan rukdee naee | and those happenings cannot be stopped by any means

ik waari jidoan shuru ho jawaay | once something begins

gul phair aiwain mukdee naee | it doesn’t stop pointlessly

kuj unj wee rahwaan okhiyaan sun | paths were also rough

kuj gull wich ghum da tauq wee see | neck was also burdened by sorrow

kuj shahr daay loak wee zalum sun | people of city were also cruel

kuj maino marun da shouq wee see | and I was also fond of dying

Some time last year I sat in the food court of a mall in Missausaga, Canada & listened to this old dude Sohail Rana as he trashed The Kominas album cover for Wild Nights in Guantanamo Bay.

I made this video for Sunny Ali & The Kid’s song “Tahrir Square Dance”. Both this video and this song were inspired by and made to show our support for all of our brothers and sisters that are struggling and fighting for their freedom in Egypt right now.

fullcoverage:

The Kominas - Choli Ke Peeche (Khal Nayak cover)

‘Choli Ke Peeche’ is one of those zeitgeist-y filmi songs to emerge from India’s cinematic culture in the past 20 years. Considered by some to be a pseudo-feminist anthem (as punk as Bollywood can get?), it gets played at parties and weddings and all-the-time-ironically by 1st and 2nd and probably even 3rd gen kids. The perpetually diasporic-angsty part of me finds The Kominas’ cover incredibly sexy—will forever love brown guys who play guitar—but it’s also super well-executed; it doesn’t deviate from the band’s punk leanings, has this beautiful horn peeking through, and retains the sensuality of the original (designed to be a sexy song). The fact that they kept the adlibs in reminds me of how I grew up on the song, memorizing every word in sequence with no idea what it all meant. At the same time, aside from the lyrics, it’s everything opposite from the original: loud, not-folksy, sung by a choir of males. If you are unfamiliar with Bollywood, please take the time to check out the original song — it’s an undisputed classic and will enhance your lives in many ways.

Here’s one you never seen before

This is a great Hollywood movie that has a lot of our songs in it
